  The Last Days in the 14th Century

  the last days in the 14th century .

  all through recorded history there have been people who have pointed to the calamities, horrors and disasters in the world, and preached that this signified an imminent end of the world.

  this isnt even unique to christianity, which started off with strong millennial expectations in the 1st century, and for the most part retains the same expectations almost 2000 years later.

  The wars, famines, pestilence, and earthquakes were to serve as a sign of the "beginning of the pangs of distress," and do not make up the whole sign. The most prominent aspect of the sign of Christ's presence is that the good news of the kingdom will be preached to all the nations. Seeing that Christendom is clueless about what God's kingdom is, it is obvious that at no other time in history has it been possible for that aspect of the prophecy to be fulfilled, as it is being fulfilled in the international witness that the Watchtower Society has been giving in recent decades. Back during the Dark Ages when the bubonic plague was raging, many thought that the end of the world was coming then, but obviously the period was not the one which the prophecy pinpointed. Your reasoning simply fails to take into consideration everything that Jesus said would mark the period of the last days of this system of things. / You Know

  WTS says 215 years - Bible says 430 - Which?

  215 years or 430 years?

  the july 15th wt study some have been talking about (not sure of which issue of the wt is involved) was quoted as saying this, "when the israelites headed for freedom after spending 215 years in egypt, much of that time in slavery, a vast mixed company also went up with them.

  (exodus 12:38) ".

  The Bible's count of 430 years starts from the time that God made a covenant with Abraham. That is borne out at Galatians 3:17, where Paul linked the 430 year period to that occasion when the Abrahamic covenant came into existence. The Watchtower's 215 year reference merely referred to the time after Joseph's death when the Israelites were actually enslaved by the Egyptians, after they had already resided there for many years. / You Know

  Let's see God wanted to make a point, when Satan tricked Eve and got her to eat of the fruit, then God punishes man and Satan gets a six thousand year party to prove his point.

  Obviously you haven't really thought this through as you might have deluded yourself into imagining. If God had not allowed Satan that period of time you wouldn't even have been born. God has been more than fair in allowing wicked and emptyheaded individuals to exist on his planet. / You Know

  George Orwell once wrote that the future of mankind resembles a human face with the imprint of a boot stamped on it. Apparently that is also the future that Jehovah envisioned for the race, which is why Jehovah God erected certain bulwarks to thwart the sort absolute totalitarian tyranny that we have glimpsed from time to time in Communism and Nazism. For one thing, Jehovah has never abdicated his sovereignty. After the flood God issued the command to all men to spread out and fill the earth. Satan, it appears, wanted to collect people together under a dictatorial regime. By Jehovah's confusing the language of mankind he prevented, or at least delayed, the subjugation of all mankind under an imperial form of tyranny. As bad as competing national institutions have been in fomenting wars, at least they present some sort of checks and balances against absolutist rule. No doubt, had God allowed mankind to continue under Nimrod, in time there would have been such a tyrannical system in place that life on earth would have been a total nightmare.

  As it stands presently, the language barrier has for the most part been surmounted by the nations. Thus, predictably, we see once again the irresistible impulse toward totalitarianism reflected in the relentless move toward globalism and the dismantling of the nation state system with the intent to eventually abolish national sovereignties altogether. The Scriptures of course allow for that to occur at the finale. So Jehovah's confusing of the tongues of mankind merely acted as a delaying tactic until such time as his work is done. Then, when it's time, God will allow Satan his little global empire so as to get it on in the last showdown. No doubt the tribulation will be a nightmarish genocidal holocaust without equal. / You Know

  A letter from my Congressman

  i received a mail-shot letter from my local us congressman presenting the results of the last survey from the district he represents.

  the survey (which mrs. thirdson and i took part in) lists the top issues facing our nation.

  i think it is interesting as to what the local community regards as the most serious issues facing us in the us compared to what jws preach about as things we should be concerned with.. here are the results and think about the jw answer/response to each of these issues.. number 1. education 18% listed this as the top issue facing the us.

  Missing from the list was anything about the economy, no fearful doom and gloom expectations there. Obviously, no one expects a global banking

  Popular opinion has never been an accurate indicator of things to come. The fact is though that the money people are running scared. Turkey, Argentina, Brazil, or Japan, they are all on the ropes, BIG TIME. We are definitely headed for another round of international financial turmoil. This time though it appears that the dollar is going to be ground zero. It may be that Jehovah is holding things together until his work is done, because when it finally rips the world is going to be a vastly different place.

  Judgment Day means that Jehovah settles accounts with everybody, including, and especially, his servants. The Scriptures say that God especially disciplines those who are his own. That discipline can take various forms. It can be in the form of hardships, persecutions, and various humiliations and indignities. No doubt the tribulation will serve up a whole platter full of all kinds of unpleasantries that we have not anticipated and that we will have to faithfully endure. / You Know

  I agree that your motive will not alter any outcome but you really do have to question yourself on how strong your desire is to see this all come to fruition.

  If my motive is relevant, than so is yours. How badly do you want this system to continue? More importantly: Why do you want it to continue?

  My argument is that the strength of your desire is more a reflection of you and other witnesses who only see the gain and not the cost.

  In my situation I will lose everything, including my human life. What selfish interests could I possibly have?

  To have humanity means that your overriding concern is for the peoples of the earth.

  My overridding concern is that Jehovah's name become sanctified before everyone.

  Do you really believe that Jehovah, as presented in the Bible, holds all humanity in such derision?

  Jehovah honors those who honor him. For those who hold him in contempt the Scriptures say that he will certainly laugh at them and hold them in derision.

  In my experience witnesses are far more selfish and lack humanity to a greater degree than the norm as a result of this very strong desire. To me the desire has created self-delusion, witnesses believe that they are special, occupying a place above all humanity.

  That's just your opinion. But, if any of us need an attitude adjustment, certainly the collapse of the present system will humble even Jehovah's Witnesses.

  The problem is - the world is not wholly evil - good people DO exist, yet you are blind to this.

  Jehovah is the judge of who and what is good or bad. Mine and your opinion are irrelevant. But whether there are a handful of "good" people, or millions, it still doesn't change the fact that the system is doomed. You seem to be clinging to some delusion that the end comes about because bad people wish it so.

  It was when I opened my eyes knowing the system to be imperfect but seeing good sincere people existing within it that I could not believe that God, who gave His Son as He loved the world so much, could show the same disregard for them as does the organisation.

  Jehovah's judgment is going to be based upon how people react after the system disintergrates. / You Know

  Can someone tell me in which chapter of the bible is the viability of Anglo-American currency discussed? Thanks in advance.

  There are over 8 complete chapters contained in two of the Hebrew prophetic books that relate in detail Jehovah's judicial decisions upon the Anglo-American dyad. But, as one of the Hebrews might say: "as Jehovah is living" I shall not tell you what they are. / You Know

  Your motive for wanting this financial crisis and for this financial system to end is so that it may start the Great Tribulation.

  My motives have no effect one way or the other upon reality. Does the weatherman have a "motive" for issuing a storm warning?

  Have you no empathy for the people of the world, do you not feel desperate for them - for if what you wish for came true it would mean the end for them.

  You exhibit the typical mentality of the post WWII "boomers" and their offspring, that 'if we don't think about bad stuff, then nothing bad will happen to us.' That's simply delusional, totally self-delusional. Do you imagine that you are showing empathy for people by not upseting them with unpleasant facts?

  There are a lot of good people in the world, sincere little old ladies who go to church every Sunday because they really believe it is right, they read the same bible you do (maybe not the NWT).

  That's why I am a minister of Jehovah's provisions for salvation. He long ago foretold that this system would reach a terminal point when only He could provide a way out for those who truly trusted him. By all apearances we are rapidly reaching the end of the line.

  What comes across from your posts - and I have always read them with interest, is that your desire for the system to end overshadows any feelings for your fellow man. This I think is the biggest problem with the 'truth' - it destroys your humanity.

  It seems to be wicked human nature to find fault with the messenger because you don't like the message. Your opinion of my humanity, or lack of, will not keep this system from crashing down in a heap. / You Know

  Worldly economies have no bearing whatsoever on endtime prophecies.

  Are you sure about that? I doubt if you are really in a position to say what the prophecies do or don't say regarding the end. In fact I am quite sure that you have no idea. The fact is that the entire Ango-American democratic system is totally dependent upon the continued viability of the dollar and the pound. You cannot even imagine how drastically the world would change if the dollar were to crash. The previous world-wide depression led directly to WWII. The world is a much more dangerous place in 2001 than it was back then. / You Know
